It is not to be expected that human nature will change in a day.

Loving Couple

On THR we usually go to the Rubios for a study, but since they are in Toluca we decided to invite Ben and Jasmin Baker to dinner. WE had a fun time. They are a good servant couple, and it is good to have them around. God has provided a humble and patient man to be with us. He is asking us to teach him what to do, but he is teaching us how to be more like Christ.
WE are praying for their support. so if you are interested in helping a excelent couple to be partners in evangelism. Please let us know. They have done studies in homes, visits, help the youth, and even be an imprtatn part of our worship. Sunday they will begin a new class with the youth and we are glad to see them here in Leon.

It is important to remember that we must make Disciples which make disciples, which make disciples......and we need each other to accomplish this.

why keep doing it?

Every WED night we have a study at the church building. And it is always what people do if there is nothing else that they care to do. It is a time of last thing to do since we are bored, or it is a repeat of American Idol. For a teacher like me it is discouraging to see that we can be so flexible - almost not caring.
Last night we had one visitor, three boys, and one girl. Then I realize that I do what I do for moments like these. I had one non-christian, three men who need maturing in our church, and one girl who has been coming in the last months and we think she is saved. (Tana was teaching the kids upstairs!) And also Bill was there.
The class was a good time to see God at work by his word. I tend to forget that planting and watering are a constant practice. And if we do this when we want and when we do not want, then the growth will be God given.
Every strategy in evangelism tells us not to do these events, programs, and such. But God is mighty to give his grace in moments of weakness, especially my own.

What does God have in mind here?

In the last two decades Tana and Erin have been good friends. And being in Mexico has made that relationship be changing because of time, place, people, and more variables. But this week, all four of our kids had an opportunity to see one another and play together. It was a good time.
The Henderson have done a good job with their work in D.F. and we hope to see them stay to share Jesus with others. And we hope to do the same here in Leon. But what does God have in mind when he sees these four kids - and for that matter many more other kids who are serving under their parents ministries? It is an answer we hope to be part of in the church. Pray for the work in Mexico and thank you all for loving us.

Pray for the Rubios

Just a quick note, to let you know that the Rubios are in Toluca with a VBS. They are traveling to help and be servants. WE love them so much, and we praise God for their participation in our lives. Keep the work they do in your prayers.

Today was a Day for ???

When you are going through preparation there are certain that all is to give you a better training. But today like all meetings on WED we had a boring one! There is me talking and little response back, until there are too many factors decided and it is too late to proactively do something but a mere reaction to what happened. WE all have seen this...and know exactly what it is.
Later today I was sitting in my office, and Paola, Bogart, and David came to me and asked about what happened on Sunday. They want to know if that is a possibility for them. After a few minutes, I realized that it was too much for their good hearts to digest. SO my last word was that they need to pray and God will guide them in what they need to do.
But questions, and so bothersome. We are always seeking to realize what is best - and then we expect to not have more questions. It is an illusion that never ends!

Today was a day to see God's provision in life as well as in his church. He is the holder of all truth, he is truth. Ergo, we will never "know" it all.

A Good Servant

In the last months we have seen Bill be one great servant. He was an aimer here, and now has returned to work with us. He is passionate about God's work, and we are more then blessed to have him around. If you want something done, he is your guy to go to. He is 100% reliable and we enjoy his spirit.
Bill has decided to learn from us, and be with the missionaries far beyond what we expected. His willingness to be ready at all times, and a humble spirit to give in moments of need is outstanding.
Our request now is that he would be blessed with some help. If you are able to assist him in anyway with some one time donations, or monthly support we (and he) would be thankful.
WE see potential for him to be a long term church planter. He needs direction, and partners to make this possible.
Last week we took a trip to Guadalajara and he helped us with Beto's visa, and next week he will be essential with our group coming from Texas. Not to mention helping Shawn with the youth retreat, Sunday class, and more.

Our prayer is that his relationship with God will be beneficial for a long term commitment with Lety, the team, and us his family.

QUOTING: Jay Jarboe about his Visit in Leon

God at Work in Leon

We had a wonderful time in Leon. We received great hospitality from Omar and Tana Palafox. We enjoyed seeing their wonderful children. We were even able to be there for Emma's sixth birthday. Emma you are a wonderful girl. We had a great time with Shawn and Barbara Gary and their kids as well. I was so impressed with these two families and the work that God is accomplishing through them. Shawn and Barbara led the youth in their first youth retreat and it was a great success. We were able to see and spend a little time with the new AIMers that are still settling in, adjusting to culture. Thanks for the great time; John, Renato, Ramiro, Jedda, Ivanka and Trasa. We also saw Ben and Bill who are exAIMers still making a significant contribution to the work in Leon.

I was impressed with the church in Leon. They had a wonderful spirit. I was able to preach and they put up with my "chilango" Spanish, in reality, "gringo" Spanish. I did not get an exact count but there were well over 100, I guess around 120 in attendance. They obviously love one another, several of the men are taking leadership role. The adult classes are being taught by men in the congregation. The youth had their first retreat, staying at the building from Friday evening through time for the assembly on Sunday morning. We could tell that this was an important transformational time for them.

I also met a great family who are graduates from the school in Toluca and now working in Leon, the Rubios. I am encouraged to see what God is doing in Leon."

Sending Off

Today we prayed and sent three young men to the mission field. It was a good time to see their faces and challenges before them. Beto will be attending the school of bible in Quito, Ecuador. And Evelyn and Rafa will be going to AIM.
It is a blessing to see our church participate in giving them a one time help, and many prayers. God has given us a new direction in church, and we see this as a healthy step in multiplication.
